Testimonial from one of our Singapura kitten buyers (submitted to our Guest Book page)
"I cannot thank Fiona at Mangalakatzs enough for blessing me with the most amazingly gorgeous, exceptionally affectionate, confident, well adjusted, socially developed, independent, sassy and smart Singapura girl I could have ever wished for!!! I couldn’t be more in love with my beautiful Violet Pearl & am constantly blown away with how perfect she is. Every single person that has come into contact with her instantly falls in love and she has even converted friends & family of mine who strongly dislike (some even said they “hated”) cats! I also couldn’t ask for a more loving, caring, passionate and responsible breeder that I found in Fiona. After falling in love with the Singapura breed after plenty of research and finding that Fiona was the only officially registered/recognised breeder in Australia I also did my research into her and was extremely pleased with the glowing reviews and recommendations I found. And it only took a (what was meant to be a brief) phone call to find out what a wonderful person & “crazy cat lady” Fiona was with such care and dedication she puts into ensuring her beloved babies find the perfect homes. Not only does she raise the most amazing cats; she ensures to not only to provide potential adoptive parents with all the relevant information they need to know about the breed and how to care for them but also asks many questions to ensure her babies are going to the right homes. You can genuinely tell she is in this for the love of the breed she is so clearly passionate about. And for very good reason, I can safely say that Singapura’s are the BEST cats in the world.”

From Fergus, (Singapura baby) 24th August 2014
Hi Fiona,

Thought I would send you an email and let you know how I'm going since you sent me to live with my new human parents Andrew and Bree in April.

I've got them wrapped around my little paw so bad. As soon as I look at them with my eyes as round as they can go and make my cutest meow which I've decided goes like this "ehh oww!" they'll give me whatever I want. Whether it's food off their plate, paper they are throwing away (I love the sound it makes when they scrunch it up) or sleeping in their bed.

They already had other fur babies but not like me. Baxter is a total push over, he's my favourite. We play chasings and then we fight but he's so fat that he never wins! I have my suspicions that he lets me win but he tells me doesn't. It took me awhile to like the girls Suki and Gizmo. They are really rude, they would follow me around the house ALL the time like they needed to know where I was.

I understand the humans have called me Fergus. I heard them talking about my name for ages because they weren't sure what to call me. It's nice to have a name because when they yell out 'Fergus dinner!' I know that I have to go running.

One thing I have found out about living with these humans is that they don't like it when I burp if I'm sitting on them. Sometimes I can't help it though. Also they do use my name a lot and most of the time its not yelling to tell me dinner is ready. Sometimes the girl one (Bree) will say "No Fergus" when I pull her underwear off the clothes horse or when I drink out of the glass of water on the table. (yes it is hers but we share sometimes although I'm not sure if she knows about that... oh well). The boy one (Andrew) he is the sucker I can do whatever I like with him he taught me how to retrieve things for him, like paper, toys. The humans eat on the couch so I bring my dinner piece by piece to eat with him, and then he makes strange noises when I drop the meat onto his paws I don't think this is as fun for him as it is for me because he takes them back to my bowl... but I go and get it and bring it back, persistence is the key. I also like to sleep on Andrews neck, this is where I feel we are both comfortable. I'd sleep on his face but I'm not that mean I'd like him be able to breathe or I wouldn't get away with as much as I do. There is also a room in the house that I'm not allowed in so when they open the door I sneak in and hide although the girl one always finds me and tells me that I'm not as sneaky as I think I am but I just think that maybe I under estimated her and she's smarter than I first thought. The boy one lets me into the forbidden room with him because its where we go to do stuff in the gym. I help him by sitting on his chest when he lifts the heavy things into the air. I like to help.

Well that's it from me hope you are well

Love from Fergus
(Kind regards Andrew and Bree)

Dear Fiona,

I wanted to let you know how well Dallas and Rollo are doing. They adore their new home with its tropical views of the sky, clouds and birds and love to sleep next to the window or clean themselves in the early morning sunlight.

Dallas has his favourite toys including his rattie, fish wand and a strange blue furry two-legged thing that he treats like prey and carefully wraps up and attempts to carry the bundle in his mouth.

Rollo loves the box puzzle and will spend ages fishing out the balls and the tiny mouse, which he then darts about with and finds impossible places to store it.

Both boys took to their hand-thrown ceramic bowls and eat all their meals with gusto. They also enjoy the water fountain but for some reason don't like to be seen drinking out of it. I catch them out of the corner of my eye lapping up the cool water.

They are highly entertaining with guests and will smooch and seek cuddles with all. Dallas still loves to take a flying leap onto people but his style is becoming more refined and less startling J.

Rollo is the dreamer and Dallas is the explorer. Gorgeous. It's been two weeks since I picked them up but it feels like many more. They have settled in so well and have already given me much love, affection and many, many reasons to laugh and smile.

Thank you again Fiona for breeding such beautiful kittens.

Wishing you all the best,
Veronica, Dallas and Rollo.

Hi Fiona,

Well its been a week since we picked up our precious little Singapura kitten, Spider.

He has been quiet, but each day is making lots of progress. I guess he's not used to 5 people craving his attention, and the different sounds to what he's used to.

Each day he is making our house his home. He is showing signs of the typical Singapura, wanting to be near you all the time, he's very cheeky and very intelligent, and LOVES being patted. He meows when he's a bit lost or is scared and already comes when you call his name. Its taken him 6 nights to realise the best place to sleep is in our bed, and has decided that's the most comfortable place to doze all day.

Our other 2 cats (Devon Rex and British Shorthair) have been paying a lot of attention to him, lots of staring competitions, checking out his kitty litter and a few growls at him. I'm hoping that they will all get along in the next couple of weeks, fingers crossed.

Thanks for our amazing little man, we have already fallen in love with his cheeky personality.

Smiles Katrina.

P.S. I loved how when we came into your house,  all your wonderful cats greeted us, and demanded our attention, just gorgeous.

This letter is from Rhani about her Singapura kitten called "Singu", they had also bought an Ocicat kitten from another Breeder.

The Ocicat which has a very different nature to the Singapura,  took a bit of time in accepting the little new arrival, although the Ocicat (Bumbee) had only been at her home for a few weeks earlier. All in the end settle and now they are one happy family.

Hi Fiona,

Singu is the most perfect pet in the whole world. He is loving, naughty, absolutely trusting and he gets away with everything! He follows me around like a shadow and he's really smart, he's learnt our habits and so if i move from the kitchen towards the corridor, he knows exactly which room i am heading for and he will go station himself outside that room, waiting for me to catch up. He is simply adorable. He wakes me up every morning by trying to get under the covers or sitting on my chest or just by licking my face. He is a cutie! Even my parents fell in love with him and Bumbee (ocicat) as well. Its hard to not think of singu and bumbee as family members and i found that my parents were doing the same.

Honestly, singu is exactly the kind of pet that i was looking for and it was a stroke of luck that i was pointed to you as I didnt know about the Singapura breed till I came down to see you.

Bumbee is Ari's (my husband) cat and Singu is undoubtedly mine. He is my shadow and I simply love him to bits!

Thanks again for trusting us with Singu and for all your help and advice during the first couple of months.

Regards,
Rhani & Singu

This is from a wonderful lady who owns a Florist Shop in QLD, the Singapura kitten goes to work each day with her and home again. 22/3/10

HI FIONA,
LIA PROMISED TO SEND YOU A REPORT OF MY HEALTH AS PER THE NICE GIRL VET SHE TOOK ME TO LAST WEEK - ACCORDING TO HER I AM JUST THE FINEST SPECIMEN OF PEDIGREE SHE'S MET SO FAR (BUT SHE PROBABLY TELLS ALL HER PATIENTS THAT JUST BEFORE SHE STICKS THAT THERMOM... WHATEVER THING UP THEIR YOU KNOW WHERE).
I ALSO ASKED LIA TO TELL YOU A LITTLE ABOUT MY LIFE IN THE SMITH/ROBERTSON HOUSEHOLD SINCE I AM NOT SO SAD ANYMORE ABOUT LEAVING YOU AND ALL MY OTHER HUMAN AND FELINE FAMILY AND FRIENDS BEHIND.
MAYBE A SERIES OF PHOTO'S WILL EXPLAIN IT BETTER BECAUSE LIA SAYS LATELY SHE SPENDS A LOT OF TIME FOLLOWING A LITTLE KITTEN TO CAPTURE ALL MY ANTICS - DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THAT MEANS BUT I HAVE TO TELL YOU SOMETHING ABOUT HER - I THINK SHE LIKES ME,  MAYBE SHE EVEN LIKES ME A LOT BECAUSE MOST OF THE TIME WHEN SHE LOOKS AT ME SHE HAS A SOFT REAL MUSHY KIND OF A LOOK IN HER EYES THAT MAKES ME WANT TO CUDDLE HER ALL THE TIME. AND OBVIOUSLY WITH ALL THIS CUDDLING GOING ON ALL DAY WE DON'T GET A LOT OF WORK DONE, BUT THAT DOESN'T SEEM TO BOTHER HER ALL THAT MUCH EITHER. BUT BOY! WAS SHE BUSY IN THE SHOP OVER MOTHERS DAY WEEKEND! I JUST KEPT IN MY LITTLE SLEEPING BAG AND GAVE HER SHORT CUDDLES ONLY, SO SHE KNEW I WAS THINKING OF HER.
ANYWAY, SO THE PHOTO'S ARE IN ORDER SINCE MY ARRIVAL AND ONE SHOWS MY FIRST DAY WHEN I FOUND A NICE  WARM SPOT IN THE SOFT TOY BOX AND LIA NEARLY FREAKED OUT BECAUSE SHE COULDN'T FIND ME AND SINCE THEN I HAD FOUND MANY HIDEAWAY PLACES AND IT IS A LOT OF FUN TO SEE HOW LONG IT TAKES HER TO FIND ME!
ALSO ONE WHERE I AM "HELPING" LIA TO MAKE SOME ARRANGEMENTS AND WHERE I AM CUDDLING GLENDA THE TRAINEE FLORIST (SHE IS THE BLONDE) AND THEN SOME OF ME "RESTING" ON THE BENCH NEXT TO WHERE LIA IS WORKING AND THE SEXY YOUNG BRUNETTE HOLDING ME AND THE ROSE, THAT IS MY HAPPY LIA (READ SERVANT). AND I THINK THE LAST ONE IS OF LITTLE JAMES GIVING ME A GENTLE CUDDLE BECAUSE I AM STILL JUST A KITTEN (LOL)
THEN A COUPLE OF PICS OF ME AT HOME, WHICH I REALLY LOVE BY THE WAY AS THAT IS WHERE I CAN PULL OFF ALMOST ANY KIND OF STUNT THAT I CAN THINK OF - LIKE CHARGING UP (YES UP!) THE SCREEN DOORS HOPPING ONTO THE DOOR - A BIT PROBLEMATIC TO COME DOWN AGAIN, BUT IF I JUST PUT ON MY "CUTE KITTY NEEDS HELP, PLEEEZ" FACE, IT WORKS EVERY TIME AS I ALWAYS GET INSTANT HELP FROM LIA OR CHRIS . AND I LUUV HELPING LIA MAKE THE BED - SUCH FUN ALTHOUGH SHE CLAIMS THAT THE BED LOOKS LESS MADE THAN BEFORE WE STARTED. AH AND I HAVE MANAGED TO DEMOLISH FOUR OF MY TOY TEASERS AS I AM VERY FAST AND STRONG CATCHING THEM, BUT THEN I GET NEW, BETTER ONES EVERY TIME LIA GOES SHOPPING. AND OF COURSE MY OWN PERSONAL GYM KEEPS ME IN GOOD ATHLETIC SHAPE SO I CAN CHARM ALL THOSE GORGEOUS GIRLS SWARMING INTO THE SHOP AS WORD IS SPREADING THAT I HAVE ARRIVED.

WELL FIONA MY GOOD FRIEND, I THINK I WILL BE OK BECAUSE WHO CAN EVER RESIST THE MAGICAL MR MISTOFFELES? OH AND BY THE WAY, I HAVE A COUPLE OF NICKNAMES THAT I RATHER LIKE, LIKE MONKEYBUM, CUTIECAT, SUGARPIE, SEXY DUDE ETC. ETC. ALL OF COURSE GIVEN TO ME WITH LOVE BY LIA. WILL YOU LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK? AND ALSO WE ARE STILL SORTING MY DIET OUT AS I LIKE TO PULL MY LITTLE PEDIGREED NOSE UP MAINLY AT  STEAK, CHICKEN FILLETS , PRIME TUNA AND LIVER!

The Storm...
http://mangalakatzs.com.au/images/your_l1.gif
They were together in the House.

Just the two of them.

It was a cold, dark, stormy night. The storm had come quickly and each time the thunder boomed he watched her jump.
She looked across the room and admired his strong appearance....and wished that he would take her in his arms, comfort her and protect her from the storm.

Suddenly, with a pop, the power went out.... She screamed..
He raced to the sofa where she was cowering.
He didn't hesitate to pull her into his arms.
He knew this was a forbidden union and expected her to pull back.
He was surprised when she didn't resist but instead clung to him.
The storm raged on....

They knew it was wrong...
Their families would never understand... So consumed were they in their FEAR that they heard no opening of doors...
just the faint click of a camera.......

This is a lovely email from Di & with Greg about their two little Singapura babes.

Belle was a quiet little girl who was so demure and so very sweet, but would take a little time to accept a new mum. Her brother was so very full of himself and we knew he would settle immediately and run the household.  Male kitten is called Paco and the female is Belle

No need to thank us for loving Belle! We are thankful you sent her to us. I know exactly how you feel about Molly and Sassy - Belle makes us feel the same way. She gets away with so much more than the Naughty Paco! For example the other night... we don't generally let the kids sleep with us at night, but when we had the friends stay, we did. When they have slept with us, Belle has always decided to sleep under the bed in a basket full of clothes instead of under the covers (she feels secure there). So the next morning I woke up and there was a cat between me and Greg and I assumed it was Paco. I was about to move him to the other side of me so I could cuddle with Greg, but looked down and it was Belle, sound asleep and all stretched out. My heart melted at the fact she was there, couldn't bear to move her so let her be. Paco meanwhile was curled up (still between us) but at our feet. You're right, I am a goner and completely addicted to them. And the funny thing is, self-proclaimed cat haters love them too - and I believe them seeing the way they crumble when Paco chooses them to curl up to go to sleep with. He's just a heart breaker!

The funny thing is, I only stumbled upon Singa's by chance. Greg and I had been talking about getting a kitten for about 12-18 months but were waiting to buy a property. We bought our place last August and started looking in earnest around November. We looked at pet stores (however I have a fundamental problem with animals being sold in pet stores) and some rescue cats, but Greg has an allergy to dogs and he had a stray cat as a kid which he also had an allergy to so we weren't sure if this would carry through to him now being an adult. So I was searching for short haired hypoallergenic cats (if you can believe it!) and somehow stumbled upon the Singa. Then when I started researching them and learning about their temperaments, how affectionate they are, their size and of course those big green eyes, that was it. Then trying to find a breeder was a whole other issue, and then I found you! And then we had to wait, and wait, and wait! We were so excited and it was so hard to not email you and harass you about them Every. Single Day! But it was worth it! The moment I laid eyes on them at the airport, I nearly cried! That little face staring back at me and that new kitten smell! Oh, and Greg has had no allergy problems at all. Even when the little boy sleeps on Greg's' neck (which is often as Greg likes to snooze on the couch). And Greg wakes up all stiff because he doesn't want to disturb him!!!

I don't think anything you read can truly convey the personality or how affectionate these little tykes are. I think I told you when I get up in the morning, they come running over for cuddles. It's just wonderful. And the little guy in particular, is like a little dog. He's just a shadow who is always following you around by your side. I just want to smoosh their little faces (which I do often) and crush them with love!

One more thing, I hear Greg sometimes when he doesn't think I can hear him, and he's always talking to the the kids, asking what they're doing, if they liked their cuddles, and last night I heard him say to them "You two have no idea how much Mum and Dad love you. We just love you to pieces!". hehehe - good father material, huh?! He just adores them. Anyway, I've just written another essay on the kids again. Sorry! It's a bad thing to get me started... :-)

(Ahh makes my heart just melt, it is wonderful to be able to give such pleasure.)

This is an email from Kay & Rick, who have a Bengal from us, and then came back for a Singapura baby.

I just have to move all those other pictures & make myself the centre of attention...........not just once but every day!

I do this just to annoy her............then she flashes me with that awful little black box & goes coo coo how cute, then moves all the pictures back into place ready for me to do it again...............it’s really fun in the middle of the night when they are sleeping.

I go meow in my tiny little voice right up in their ears & they don’t wake up so then I go for it, you know pictures fall like dominoes in a long line, it’s really fun in the dark, they sure wake up quick & chase me, well duhhhhhh that’s what I wanted!!

Pam has a lovely little man called "Sami"

Dear Fiona

I just wanted to let you know that Sami is well. Yesterday after 14 and a half years of pure and unconditional love my beautiful poodle Chloe was euthanized after becoming critically ill.  Sami is so incredibly sensitive I believe he knows and is doing everything he can to help me.  He is constantly at my side, just like Chloe used to be and I feel I have a new guardian angel.  Last night when I couldn't sleep he materialized out of nowhere to comfort me, it is as if he has a sixth sense.  I know the next few weeks are going to be difficult but with Sami's help I know I will get through it.  Once again I thank you from the bottom of my heart for my beautiful boy.  I know this time of year is difficult for you too and my heart goes out to you and your family.  Please know that Sami and I are thinking of you and wish you strength, peace, and love.

Pam

Pippin is the daughter who bought an older Singapura kitten for her mother & father, Otto and Tahj are Pips two Burmese cats that visit her mother when she travels.

Adopted Singapura kitten called Kodi writes (2008):

Hello mummy Fiona,

It's me here, KODI.

Well I wasn't too keen on my flight up here but wow you should see my new house, so big and many places to hide.

My first night was a little difficult, didn't want to sleep with my new mummy though, I slept with my big sister Pippin, she reminds me of you and she give me lots of cuddles and kisses after the flight and stopped a few times on the drive down to xxxxxxx for some more cuddle time so I like her a lot.

Last night l I had a little bit to eat, went to the toilet a couple of times and got my kitty litter all over the floor, that was fun.

Fell into the toilet in the en-suite at about 1am and my new mummy fished me out dried me off and took me into Pippins room.

Jumped under the covers and had some nice cuddles but still thought I would try and keep her up with some midnight chat time.

This morning I had lovely cuddles with Pippin, some breakfast played for an hour with Pippin and mummy and then laid in the sunshine which comes into my new mummy's room every morning and it's divine!!!!

Today I was VERY tired from all the excitement so I slept almost all day in my plush igloo, with the occasional wander around the house to discover a few new rooms.

Tonight I had a delicious dinner and mummy has put my comfy basket bed beside the open fire, gee life is tough!

I will email you some pictures next week of my new home and me with my cousins Tahj and Otto, they will be visiting me for 5 days so that will keep me very busy indeed.

Hope you all aren't missing me too much, but please know I am settling in quicker than I thought I would which is great.

Puuuuurs and Smooches

KODI
